Questions partners ask us
What is Scan&Score?
Scan&Score is Scamnetic's white-label scam-detection feature. A partner's customer forwards a suspicious text, email, chat message, or screenshot; the feature returns a Scam Score™ (0–100), the plain-language reasons behind it, and a clear recommendation — in seconds, inside the app or portal the partner already owns. It's one of KnowScam's four pillars and can also be positioned on its own for a partner that wants this capability specifically.
Who is this for?
Organizations that need to protect their own customers or members from scams arriving over the channels they already control: banks and credit unions (protecting account holders before a transfer goes out), wireless carriers (protecting subscribers from smishing over their own network), insurance carriers (protecting policyholders from claims-related scams), and retailers or marketplaces (protecting customers from delivery, refund, and account-takeover scams).
How does it actually work?
Four steps: the customer scans (forwards or uploads a message, manually or automatically via Autoscan™); Scan&Score scores it in seconds; it explains the specific reasons behind the score in plain language; then it recommends what to do next — block, verify with the real institution, or proceed.
What counts as “explaining” the score — is it just a number?
No. Each score comes with the specific evidence behind it — for example, a link domain that doesn't match the real institution's website, threat language like “permanent account closure,” or a sender that isn't on the organization's list of verified contacts. The goal is a customer understands why something is risky, not just that it is.
What channels does it cover?
Text, email, chat, images, and URLs, scored by one engine. A customer can also forward a screenshot for anything monitoring doesn't automatically reach.
Does it carry our brand or Scamnetic's?
Yours. It's delivered white-label and co-branded inside your existing app or portal.
How do we integrate it?
No-code or API, so it fits the digital experience already built — see the Integration page for details.
Why isn't scam-awareness education enough on its own?
Education tells people to be careful in general; it doesn't help in the specific moment a convincing message has already arrived. Scan&Score is what an organization offers instead of, or alongside, that education — a real-time, evidence-backed answer rather than another warning to remember.
What's the evidence this is worth doing?
In 2024, total reported cybercrime losses in the US hit $16.6B, a new record, and Business Email Compromise alone accounted for $2.77B across 21,442 complaints (FBI, Internet Crime Complaint Center, 2024 Internet Crime Report).
Why should we trust Scamnetic with this?
The same credibility basis as KnowScam: founding cybersecurity partner of Scam.org (GASA + OpenAI), a SOC 2-aligned compliance program monitored via Vanta, and an advisory board with former U.S. Secret Service Cyber Division leadership and financial-industry fraud executives.
How is this different from Business Protection?
Scan&Score (via KnowScam) protects the buying organization's customers. Business Protection uses the same underlying engine to protect the organization itself — its own payments, employees, and internal communications.
